Cookie Policy
This is a short policy because there is not much to say. One cookie is necessary and cannot be switched off. Everything else is optional, is off until you say otherwise, and takes one click to refuse.

No cookie on this site reads the contents of a page you are writing.
02Choosing
On your first visit you are shown two buttons: Reject optional, and Accept optional. They sit side by side, are the same size, and take one click each. There is no “manage preferences” maze and no pre-ticked box.
Refusing costs you nothing. Every part of this service works identically whether you accept optional cookies or not.
The choice is stored and shown as a small control in the corner of every page. Click it to change your mind at any time. Clearing your browser data resets it and you will be asked again.
03Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour Global Privacy Control signals. If your browser sends one, optional cookies stay off and, for users in California, it is treated as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information — although we do not sell or share personal information in the first place.
04Third parties
A small number of third parties are involved in running the service and may set cookies of their own when their part of it is used:
- Our payment provider, on their hosted payment page, for fraud prevention and to complete the transaction. Their cookies are set on their page, not on ours.
- Our authentication and hosting provider, for the session cookie described above.
- Our analytics provider, only if you accepted optional cookies.
We keep the list of processors current and will tell you who they are if you ask.
05The rules we are working to
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 require consent for any cookie that is not strictly necessary, and the UK GDPR requires that consent to be freely given, specific, informed and as easy to withdraw as to give. That is why refusing is one click.
If you think we have got this wrong, tell us at support@ihslothianprojects.com. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the supervisory authority in the country where you live.
